How to Bid

  1. Sign in and complete any approval required for the auction.
  2. Open the lot and review its description, sale terms, closing time, and current bid.
  3. Choose the next allowed bid or enter a maximum bid if that option is available.
  4. Review the amount and confirm. Check the page to make sure your bid was accepted.
  5. Watch the lot until it closes. Another bidder may outbid you, including through an existing maximum bid.

A maximum bid is the most you authorize the system to bid for you. It normally bids in the required increments only when needed, up to your limit. For example, if the current bid is $20 and the increment is $5, a $50 maximum may initially place a $25 bid and increase your bid as competition arrives. Your actual winning bid can be below $50. The buyer's premium, taxes, and other charges may be added to the winning bid.

If two bidders enter the same maximum, the auction's bid-priority rules determine which bid leads. Check the live lot page for your status.
