Reserves

A reserve is a minimum price that must be met for a lot to sell, if the auction uses one. The reserve may be shown or kept confidential, depending on the sale.

If the displayed bidding has not met the reserve when the lot closes, the highest bidder may not win the item. Check the lot for any reserve indicator and read the sale terms. A starting bid and a reserve are different amounts; do not assume one equals the other.
